I joined the Stronghold having never trained at a functional fitness facility before. It’s an extremely welcoming environment with very professional and attentive coaching in a small group set up for classes. A great mix of challenging yourself with fun and varied workouts while lifting safely with proper technique.

Which class is best to try/ start with?

If you’re unsure which class to start with, our team can recommend the best class for you.

Here’s a brief breakdown though if you want to make a quick decision:

Fundamentals Class: For those returning after time off training, back from injury, beginners or postpartum.

Functional Fitness: Our MOST POPULAR class with a mix of strength or skill work followed by a conditioning workout/finisher. Excellent for those looking for an all-inclusive style of training.

Conditioning: A whole session dedicated to training energy systems, from sprints to longer aerobic workouts. Ideal for those looking to sweat and improve their fitness.

Bootcamps: A fun, team-based weekend class with lots of energy. All levels are welcome.

Masters: For those over 65 wanting to build longevity and functionality.

Barbell Club: A full hour of Olympic weightlifting with a technique bias.

Gymnastics: A deeper look into bodyweight and Calisthenic strength movements/skills.

Do I need training experience to join?

No experience is required! Our class occupancies are capped to enable our coaches to provide everyone with the support they need.

For those new to the gym, our 9:30am weekday Fundamentals classes are perfect.

These classes provide you with everything you need to master the basics and build the correct foundations.

Are changing rooms and showers available?

We are very proud of the comfort and cleanliness of our changing rooms and showers.

We have two showers in each changing room and plenty of space with benches and hooks to change into your training gear.

Can I do classes if i'm injured?

Yes, providing you haven’t been signed off exercise by a medical professional.

Our coaches will provide adapted versions of exercises to accommodate injuries and other similar issues.

9:30am Fundamentals Classes are most suitable for those returning from/managing an injury but all classes can be altered to meet your needs.

Can I do classes if i'm pregnant?

Yes, providing you haven’t been signed off exercise by a medical professional.

All our coaches have experience working with pre/postnatal individuals and will provide adapted versions of exercises to allow you to train safely.

9:30am Fundamentals Classes are most suitable for pre/post natal training but almost all classes can be adapted for
those who are pregnant.

Please be aware some classes would be unsuitable if pregnant but our team will direct you through this.

Can I bring kids/ dogs?

Kids are always welcome at The Stronghold, we are family-run and inclusive!

We ask that if you bring little ones they aren’t left to run wild, especially when it’s busy.

We always aim to get them involved in the sessions in one way or another to keep them engaged whilst you’re training. If they’d rather sit quietly and wait then we have a comfortable and quiet seating area for them too.

If you have young ones between the ages of 11 and 17, we offer supervised open gym sessions to this age group every Tuesday at 7 pm. The session is dedicated to creating a safe environment for them to work through their gym routine.

Please note, participants are required to attend a one-to-one induction with one of our coaches before starting.

Dogs

Dogs are always welcome at The Stronghold, we are an animal-friendly gym! All we ask is that they’re kept on a lead and are house-trained of course.

We understand that some dogs shed hair from time to time so if this happens then we would require you to hoover up any hair for hygiene and allergy purposes.
